Dancing My Mother’s Body ™

Workshops, retreats and multi-disciplinary arts allow for a rigorous exploration
of the body, identity and the mother-daughter relationship.

Dancing My Mother's Body™ is a rigorous exploration of identity, the body and the complex relationship of mother and daughter, through the lens, vocabulary and metaphors provided by Raks Baladi.

Through the use of dramaturgy and personal narrative, in addition to examining philosophies of identity construction, healing and activism, Hanan brings participants into a deeply personal conversation with their own bodies as dancers, women and daughters.

Workshops, retreats and intensives are one aspect of this multi-disciplinary project. The dance vocabulary incorporated in the workshops derive from an Egyptian Baladi-based tradition.

A dancer that comes from where one can touch the rooftop of the world.
