Movement transforms things. Through this interactive dialogue, three women film artists discuss resilience, dance, movement and transformation through the creative process. Sharing examples of their works and creations, Carla Forte, Vivian Marthell and Tiffany Madera will share insight into their movement and film practices, as well as how spirituality and community inform their artistic choices.
Presented as part of Shift. Shimmy. Pivot. - an initiative of Hanan Arts, in partnership with Havana Habibi Festival.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Carla Forte (Caracas - Venezuela) lives and works in Miami- Florida. After training as a dancer, Forte established herself as an interdisciplinary artist incorporating dance, film and performance through different media. Forte is the co-founder and film director of Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film. Her feature films “Conejo and “Ann,” as well as her feature documentary “The Holders” have been selected at numerous high-caliber film festivals such as Atlanta International Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival among others. Forte has directed internationally featured video-dance pieces including “Nostalgia di Domicella”, “Hurricane”, and “Interrupta”, screened at prominent galleries and festivals, such as OGA VideoArt Exhibitions, Festival Les Instants Vidéo and South Florida PBS. Forte has won artistic residencies from prestigious programs such as Knight Arts Challenge Miami (2019); En Residencia Koubek Center (2019); Kulturscio'k Live Art Collective, Domicella- Italy (2019- 2018); FONLAD Residency Program Coimbra- Portugal (2018), Berlinale Talent Berlin (2017) and other illustrious awards.
