Mermaid in Morocco: Hand of Hanan

Tiffany “Hanan” Madera, the Founder and Director of Havana Habibi, was recently awarded a grant from Eyes on your Mission, allowing her to create a brief documentation on her mission and life’s work. The film took Madera back to her roots, exploring her Cuban and Moroccan ancestry. A cinematic effort, backlit by a golden North African sun and imbibed with the brilliant hues of Morocco’s landscape and its people, explores Madera’s work in the auspice of Mid-Eastern and North African Dance while addressing issues of transnational feminism, intersectional feminism, as well as equality and resilience in the women of today’s world. The film is filled with breathtakingly beautiful photography and cinematography by Zusell Escriba.

In early September, 2018, a small group assembled in Miami to witness the premiere screening of the documentary, entitled “The Hand of Hanan.” Soon, the video will be making it way to film festivals and screenings around the globe.
